Overview of uncertainty parameters in the application

Parametric uncertainties can be applied to input parameters in various workflows throughout the application. Uncertain parameters can be recognized by a symbol next to the parameter's entry field on the form. When you click on the symbol, the Uncertainty Parameter dialog opens where you can define a probability density function, which is sampled according to the sampling strategy that you select on the Designs form on the study strip. Uncertainty can be applied to the following model parameters:

Depth and Thickness Uncertainty

Depth and Thickness Uncertainty workflow (model > 3D Structure > Depth and Thickness Uncertainty)

  • Surface depth (via a seed parameter for method SGS and via a multiplier value for method Multiplier).
  • Interval thickness (via a seed parameter for method SGS and via a multiplier value for method Multiplier).

Facies Modeling

Variogram model form (model > Facies > Facies Modeling)

  • Variogram model Major direction, the Azimuth for modeling methods SIS and TGS.
  • Variogram ranges (Major, Minor, Vertical) for modeling methods SIS and TGS.

Trends & Proportions form (model > Facies > Facies Modeling)

  • The target fractions of the facies proportions for modeling methods SIS, TGS and MPS.

Run Model form (model > Facies > Facies Modeling)

  • The facies model via the seed parameter for modeling methods SIS, TGS and MPS.

Interpolate Map form (model > Facies > Facies Trend Maps)

  • Facies probabilities in the form of constraints on a map

Rock Property Modeling

Transform & Trends form (model > Rock Properties > Rock Property Modeling)

  • The mean and standard deviation of the 'User-defined normal distribution' (target distribution) for Normal Score transformation for modeling methods Kriging and SGS.

Variogram Model form (model > Rock Properties > Rock Property Modeling)

  • Variogram model Major direction, the Azimuth for modeling methods Kriging and SGS.
  • Variogram ranges (Major, Minor, Vertical) for modeling methods Kriging and SGS.

Conditioning form (model > Rock Properties > Rock Property Modeling)

  • Global mean for Simple Kriging for modeling method Kriging.
  • 3D Correlation coefficient for modeling methods Kriging and SGS.

Control Method form (model > Rock Properties > Rock Property Modeling)

  • The constant for modeling method Constant.

Run Model form (model > Rock Properties > Rock Property Modeling)

  • The rock property model via the seed parameter for modeling method SGS.

Fluid Modeling

Fluid Levels form (model > Fluids > Fluid Modeling)

  • GOC (gas oil contact)
  • FWL (free water level)
  • Paleo FWL
  • Oil column length
  • Oil column %

Fluid Properties form (model > Fluids > Fluid Modeling)

  • Formation volume factors (Bo, Bg).
  • Solution gas-oil ratio (Rs) and vaporized oil-gas ratio (Rv).

Permeability Modeling

Permeability Functions form (model > Permeability > Permeability Function Modeling)

  • Custom variables (C1, C2, C3) that are optionally used in the expression.

Saturation Modeling

Saturation Functions form (model > Saturation > Saturation Function Modeling)

  • Constant water saturation values (Sw - Oil Leg and Sw - Gas Leg).
  • Coefficients (C1, C2) that are used in the expression depending on the selected trend.
  • Land constant (Brooks-Corey + Land correlation)
  • Land constant, Wetting ratio and AwAo ratio (Brooks-Corey + Skjaeveland correlation)

Function Tool
